Mike & The Mechanics has rare Florida dates in 2018
To score yourself seats to a live performance by Mike & The Mechanics, you need more than luck. If you don't live overseass, all you need is a miracle. (Okay, so sorry. But what would you have written if you had the chance?) The '80s superband, led by Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford, primarly sticks to performing in Europe. But in the spring of 2018, you'll get two chances - three really - to see them perform in Florida.
Mike & The Mechanics will perform Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Clearwater's Capitol Theatre. (Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m.) It will be the band's first bay area performance in three decades. The band were a force on the charts in the second half of the '80s with tunes such as All I Need Is A Miracle and The Living Years. Another show is set for March 19 at The Plaza Live in Orlando.
I mentioned another performance, didn't I? The band is also one of the headliners on the 2018 voyage of The '80s Cruise, which departs March 17 from Fort Lauderdale on the Celebrity Summit. Other artists on the cruise include host Rick Springfield, Loverboy, Billy Ocean, Berlin, The Tubes and Thomas Dolby. Former MTV veejays Mark Goodman, Nina Blackwood and Alan Hunter are also onboard. If you book a cabin with the special promo code STUCK, you can save $1,000 or more. (It's totally worth it. I'll be there too hosting trivia challenges.)
Tickets for the Clearwater show start at $45.50 and go up to $129.50. Tickets for the Orlando show are $39.50 to $194.50 and go on sale Friday.
