What's the secret to Nils Lofgren's success in the '80s? Try this tune
The '80s were full of secrets. There were Secret Admirers, Secret Lovers, Secrets of Success, Secret Journeys and Secret Separations, but do you also remember the Secrets In The Street? You bet Nils Lofgren does.
Nils Lofgren is best remembered as Bruce Springsteen's right-hand guitar player in the E Street Band, but Lofgren was a solo artist first and today we reveal Secrets In The Street from 1985. From the album Flip, Secrets In The Street should have been primed for success as Lofgren was fresh off touring with the E Street Band for the Born In The USA Tour that took place in 84-85 and put Lofgren in the public eye. However, the Flip album only made it to No. 150 on the Album Charts and Secrets In The Street did not chart.
The video for Secrets In The Street follows the boy from the poor side of the tracks trying to win the heart of a young sophisticated beauty. Just like in the video for Across The Tracks that we covered a few years ago on Lost and Found, left to his own devices, Lofgren can't help but show off his trademark flips, even going full Gymkata late in the video taking on the big gymnastics bar.
As reported before, Lofgren doesn't flip as much anymore since his hip replacement, although he still jams with Bruce and all his music friends as the Bruce and the E Street band just returned a few months ago from their tour of Australia and New Zealand.
