Florida Gators AD Scott Stricklin on Antonio Callaway discipline
DESTIN -- Florida Gators athletic director Scott Stricklin said he has discussed discipline for receiver Antonio Callaway with coach Jim McElwain and will continue to do so.
What that means for the Sept. 2 season opener against Michigan remains unknown.
"That's a conversation for Coach Mac and me to have," Stricklin said after the SEC's spring meetings ended at the Sandestin Hilton. "That's not something I'm going to discuss publicly."
Callaway has made negative headlines for the second consecutive offseason. Last year, he was under a university sexual assault investigation. He was later cleared.
This year, Callaway is facing two misdemeanors after a marijuana citation last month. A court date is scheduled for June 19.
"One thing you've got to respect about Coach Mac is, he has never shied away from using discipline as a teachable moment..." Stricklin said. "Whatever comes out of this is going to be what's best for the young person."
