Bruce Springsteen is heading to Broadway — but good luck getting tickets

Dude, did you hear? Bruce Springsteen is heading to Broadway! He’s playing this tiny, 960-seat theater — that’s barely bigger than the State Theatre in St. Petersburg — and he’s doing it for eight whole weeks, from Oct. 3 to Nov. 26! It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience! We should totally go!

Okay, fine, tickets are kind of pricey, starting at $75 and going all the way up to $850. But that’s the price of seeing Bruce in a small club, right? BRUUUUUUCE!

“With one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theatre is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years,” he said in an announcement. “My show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung. It loosely follows the arc of my life and my work.”

Awesome. So we’re in agreement, we should log onto Ticketmaster and grab a few seats?

Actually, it’s not quite that simple. That is one of the steps, yes, but you can’t just start there. That would make it too easy for scalpers to get their oily mitts in the pot. Bruce wants to keep tickets in the hands of the working man, the blue-collar Joes and Janes who deserve better than such an undignified hassle.

Here’s how Bruce is making it easy for his REAL FANS to get tickets, via a process called Ticketmaster Verified Fan:

1. Head to springsteen.tmverifiedfan.com and log in using your Ticketmaster login. If you don’t have a Ticketmaster account, create one.

2. Register for Springsteen on Broadway tickets anytime between now and Aug. 27.

3. And then you buy tickets!

4. Actually, no, you don’t. What’ll happen is you’ll be entered into a lottery. You might get selected, you might not. You’ll find out on Aug. 30, the day tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. If you’re selected, you’ll receive a text early that morning with an offer code and purchase link. As the instructions state: “Keep your phone handy — notifications will arrive 2-4 hours before tickets go onsale.”

5. Set your alarm for 6 a.m. the morning of Aug. 30. Spend the morning staring at your phone. And if you get that magical text, congratulations...

6. ... you now can purchase all the tickets you want!

7. By which I mean, you can purchase no more than two (2) tickets.

8. If they’re not already gone. "We’ve seen massive interest for #SpringsteenBroadway and #VerifiedFan tickets," states the Ticketmaster FAQ. "Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are NOT guaranteed." Best to clear your calendar for all of October and November, just in case the date you want is sold out.

9. And if you don’t get selected in the lottery? Start saving up. Because the few tickets that do make it to the secondary market certainly won’t come cheap.

And after all that?

10. BRUUUUUUCE!

Dude. We totally have to go.
