For starters: Rays at Tigers, with Alex Cobb pitching, and clearing skies

UPDATE, 6:02: Cash said Beckham is moving around better today, should be available off the bench and could return to the lineup on Friday. ...  The changes at second base and catcher were more a matter of getting Martinez, a switch-hitter who can bat lefty vs. Verlander, and Sucre in a game. ... The Rays signed their first player from the draft, 7th rounder LHP Hunter Schryver. ... The rain seems to have moved through and the teams should be good to go tonight per the latest forecasts.

UPDATE, 3:55: Here is the Tigers lineup:
Kinsler 2b
Avila c
Cabrera 1b
V Martinez dh
J Martinez rf
J Upton lf
Castellanos 3b
Presley cf
Iglelsias ss
Verlander p

DEVELOPING: RHP Alex Cobb will make his 100th career start as the Rays take on the Tigers tonight at 7:10, weather permitting.

There was heavy rain in Detroit this afternoon, and more rain, to some degree, is forecast for much of the early evening, so there may be some uncertainty on when and if the game starts. Plus, with the Tigers starting ace Justin Verlander they are going to want to be sure the game isn't started and then interrupted.

The Rays are without SS Tim Beckham for a third straight game, as he has been sidelined with a sore right knee. Coming back on wet ground is probably not wise, and with a lefty starting on Friday the Rays may be waiting to give him one more today.

After Taylor Featherston made at error and failed to turn a double play at second base on Wednesday, the Rays have Michael Martinez at second tonight, as Cobb tends to get a lot of ground balls.

Also, after C Derek Norris similarly has several misplays, he is on the bench and Jesus Sucre is starting.

Here is the Rays lineup against Verlander:
Smith cf,
Dickerson dh,
Longoria 3b,
Morrison 1b,
Souza rf,
Rasmus lf,
Robertson ss,
Martinez 2b,
Sucre c,
Cobb p

Cobb will be the seventh pitcher to make 100 starts for the Rays, joining James Shields (217), David Price (170), Scott Kazmir (144), current mates Chris Archer (140) and Jake Odorizzi (108) and Jeremy Hellickson (108).
