Pinellas to remove storm debris starting Monday

RECOMMENDED READING

As storm debris starts to litter curbs, Pinellas County plans to start removing debris on Monday for residents in unincorporated areas.

The move gives residents time to return home and place the debris piles in the nearest right-of-way. Contractors will remove the debris and haul it to a temporary storage site to be disposed of or recycled, according to the county.

Pinellas County wants residents to sort the debris into separate piles.

For example, building materials like shingles, siding, drywall, lumber, carpet, furniture and plumbing materials should be in one pile. Vegetation like fallen trees, branches and logs should be in another pile.

The county does not want residents to stack the piles against trees, fire hydrants and storm drains or on sidewalks or 10-feet beyond the curb.
