Deputies: Orlando man was drunk when he pointed gun at patrol car on I-4 in Plant City

An Orlando man faces charges after he was accused of pointing a gun at a Hillsborough County deputy while driving on Interstate 4 in Plant City.

According to deputies, 24-year-old Nico Torres drove a Nissan Versa at a high rate of speed around 11:50 p.m. when he past one deputy's marked patrol car and approached another who was several car lengths ahead on I-4 near Branch Forbes Road.

Torres was a half-car length behind the second deputy the first saw him roll down his window and used his fingers to form a gun and mimic firing at the deputy.

The deputy then saw Torres bring his arm back into the car, extend it back out while holding a black semi-automatic firearm, and point it as the patrol car, deputies said.

Torres was pulled over and taken into custody, deputies said.

Deputies found a Glock 17 gun on the floorboard with a round in the chamber, and a magazine was found in the glove compartment.

Torres faces charges including DUI, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, and carrying a concealed weapon. He is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail with bail set at $10,000.
