CINCINNATI — The Rowdies tied host Cincinnati 1-1 on Wednesday night on midfielder Marcel Schafer's first goal since joining the team.
He scored seven minutes into the game for Tampa Bay (3-1-1).
After receiving a pass from midfielder Justin Chavez, Schafer found space and fired a shot from about 35 yards out. His shot hit the right post and went in.
"I had a perfect angle with my left foot, so I decided to take a chance," Schafer said.
Cincinnati scored the equalizer in the 36th minute, on a header by defender Harrison Delbridge off a corner kick.
"Despite not being able to get the three points, I think the draw is a positive result, especially against a tough team like Cincinnati," Rowdies coach Stuart Campbell said.
