Craft Beer in Tampa Bay

  1. Bar review: Brasserie Saint Somewhere settles into new home

    Bars & Spirits

Early on in my good beer education, I became a big fan of the two local options that were available in bottles at my beer shop. The first was Dunedin Brewery, which I wish I could still find in bottles nearby. The other was Saint Somewhere.

Brasserie Saint Somewhere is in a circa 1912 house in Tarpon Springs. Its brewery has distributed in more states than any other Florida brewery.
  2. Bar review: 81Bay Brewing has cool decor, great promise

    Bars & Spirits

There's a new brewery that bills itself as South Tampa's first brewery. At first, that sounds improbable, but it checks out: The vast majority of Tampa's breweries are concentrated in the downtown, Seminole Heights and Tampa Heights areas.

Fans watch the Bucs-Raiders game Oct. 30 at 81Bay Brewing Co. in Tampa. The brewery, founded this year, features a large tap room with a stage for live music and several televisions.
  3. Beer column: Make your own scary good six-pack for Halloween

    Bars & Spirits

Assembling the ideal Halloween six-pack is always a treat, though there is a trick: it gets expensive. If you don't mind dropping a few bucks on a mix-and-match, you can have a lot of fun. Why not make a story of it?

  4. Bar review: Check out Craft Life Brewing nano brewery in Land O'Lakes

    Bars & Spirits

Add Land O'Lakes to the list of Tampa Bay area towns with at least one brewery. For a while, it was looking like the upcoming In the Loop Brewing would be first on the scene, but Craft Life Brewing opened quietly in July, brewing 1-barrel nano batches in its modest Land O'Lakes Boulevard brewery and tasting room.

Locals-friendly Craft Life Brewing in Land O’Lakes is a welcome addition to the bay area scene.
  5. Bar review: Arkane Aleworks in Largo is bringing the beer

    Bars & Spirits

Festival brewery is a term that I use to describe breweries in progress: reliably spotted working the local beer fest circuit, decked out with vinyl banners, cool jockey boxes with custom tap handles, clever beer names and concepts and professionally printed apparel boasting convincing logos.

There’s room for 28 beers on the tap wall at Arkane, and a little over half are typically pouring — impressive for a new brewery.
